In particular, particle swarm optimization, also commonly known as PSO, mimics the behavior of a swarm of insects or a school of fish. If one of the particle discovers a good path to food the rest of the swarm will be able to follow instantly even if they are far away in the swarm. Swarm behavior is modeled by particles in multidimensional space that have two characteristics: a position and a velocity. These particles wander around the hyperspace and remember the best position that they have discovered. They communicate good positions to each other and adjust their own position and velocity based on these good positions.

This a very simple baseband simulator for SC-FDMA system. This simulator is part of the upcoming book “Single Carrier FDMA: A New Air Interface for Long Term Evolution” (Wiley, Nov. 2008) which I co-authored with professor David J. Goodman at Polytechnic University. The purpose of this simulator is to give some concrete idea of how SC-FDMA system works. It does lack many realistic and sophisticated features such as channel coding, time-varying fading channel model, soft decision decoding, etc. Regardless, I am hoping that it will help you understand SC-FDMA which is a fairly new development in 3GPP LTE.

this directory contains the following: * The acdc algorithm for finding the approximate general (non-orthogonal) joint diagonalizer (in the direct Least Squares sense) of a set of Hermitian matrices. [acdc.m] * The acdc algorithm for finding the same for a set of Symmetric matrices. [acdc_sym.m](note that for real-valued matrices the Hermitian and Symmetric cases are similar however, in such cases the Hermitian version [acdc.m], rather than the Symmetric version[acdc_sym] is preferable. * A function that finds an initial guess for acdc by applying hard-whitening followed by Cardoso s orthogonal joint diagonalizer. Note that acdc may also be called without an initial guess, in which case the initial guess is set by default to the identity matrix. This a simple database management system. It doesn t use any other code (i.e. ODBC, ADO, etc.) and has it s own database file format. I wrote it because I found the other DBMSs code too bulky and hard to debug. It s designed for small applications and I doubt it could handle anything on a large scale. A sample program included in the .zip shows how everything works. The database project is a library project, so you ll have to compile and link with the .lib file to get everything working. Pros: - You have the source code so you know exactly what it is doing - Database files are very small - Small and fast code Cons: - Can t handle large amounts of records (more than 65000ish) - Doesn t support SQL (you have to search the database by cycling through the records and testing them against your constraints) - Each database file can only have one table.

The combinatorial core of the OVSF code assignment problem that arises in UMTS is to assign some nodes of a complete binary tree of height h (the code tree) to n simultaneous connections, such that no two assigned nodes (codes) are on the same root-to-leaf path. Each connection requires a code on a specified level. The code can change over time as long as it is still on the same level. We consider the one-step code assignment problem: Given an assignment, move the minimum number of codes to serve a new request. Minn and Siu proposed the so-called DCAalgorithm to solve the problem optimally. We show that DCA does not always return an optimal solution, and that the problem is NP-hard. We give an exact nO(h)-time algorithm, and a polynomial time greedy algorithm that achieves approximation ratio Θ(h). Finally, we consider the online code assignment problem for which we derive several results
