In the present era, low observability is one of the critical requirements in aerospace sector, especially related to defense. The stealth technology essentially relates to shaping and usage of radar absorbing materials (RAM) or radar absorbing struc- tures (RAS). The performance of such radar cross section (RCS) reduction tech- niques is limited by the bandwidth constraints, payload requirements, and other structural issues. Moreover, with advancement of materials science, the structure geometry no longer remains key decisive factor toward stealth.

Electricity has been chosen as the most convenient and useful form of energy, due to its ease of transportation over large distances and easy conversion to other energy forms. The author’s group has developed various chipless RFID tags and reader architectures at 2.45, 4–8, 24, and 60 GHz. These results were published extensively in the form of books, book chapters, refereed conference and journal articles, and finally, as patent applications. However, there is still room for improvement of chipless RFID sys- tems. In this book, we proposed advanced techniques of chipless RFID systems that supersede their predecessors in signal processing, tag design, and reader architecture.

Research on microwave power amplififiers has gained a growing importance demanded by the many continuously developing applications which require such subsystem performance. A broad set of commercial and strategic systems in fact have their overall performance boosted by the power amplififier, the latter becoming an enabling component wherever its effificiency and output power actually allows functionalities and operating modes previously not possible. This is the case for the many wireless systems and battery-operated systems that form the substrate of everyday life, but also of high-performance satellite and dual-use systems.
