LinCAN is a Linux kernel module that implements a CAN driver capable of working with multiple cards, even with different chips and IO methods. Each communication object can be accessed from multiple applications concurrently. It supports RT-Linux, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.6 with fully implemented select, poll, fasync, O_NONBLOCK, and O_SYNC semantics and multithreaded read/write capabilities. It works with the common Intel i82527, Philips 82c200, and Philips SJA1000 (in standard and PeliCAN mode) CAN controllers. LinCAN project is part of a set of CAN/CANopen related components developed as part of OCERA framework.

penMesh is a generic and efficient data structure for representing and manipulating polygonal meshes. The purpose of this lab is to introduce the concept of FSMs with a datapath, and to study the usage of more complex test benches. Also, we enforce a rudimentary design methodology by assuming that the students are part of a bigger project, and have no knowledge of VHDL-implementation of the datapath (made by a hypothetical other group) other than its predefined Entity Interface until they come to the lab. The rest of this document is structured as follows: Section 2 describes some prelimi- nary reading and exercises that should be done before the lab. Section 3 details the design tasks that should be carried out to pass this lab.
