    In this paper we describe a control methodology for catching a fast moving object with a robot manipulator, where visual information is employed to track the trajectory of the target. Sensing, planning and control are performed in real-time to cope with possible unpredictable trajectory changes of the moving target, and prediction techniques are adopted to compensate the time delays introduced by visual processing and by the robot controller. A simple but reliable MODEL of the robot controller has been taken into account in the control architecture for improving the performance of the system. Experimental results have shown that the robot system is capable of tracking and catching an object moving on a plane at velocities of up to 700 mm/s and accelerations of up to 1500 mm/s2.

    This a very simple baseband simulator for SC-FDMA system. This simulator is part of the upcoming book “Single Carrier FDMA: A New Air Interface for Long Term Evolution” (Wiley, Nov. 2008) which I co-authored with professor David J. Goodman at Polytechnic University. The purpose of this simulator is to give some concrete idea of how SC-FDMA system works. It does lack many realistic and sophisticated features such as channel coding, time-varying fading channel MODEL, soft decision decoding, etc. Regardless, I am hoping that it will help you understand SC-FDMA which is a fairly new development in 3GPP LTE.

    The main features of the considered identification problem are that there is no an a priori separation of the variables into inputs and outputs and the approximation criterion, called misfit, does not depend on the MODEL representation. The misfit is defined as the minimum of the l2-norm between the given time series and a time series that is consistent with the approximate MODEL. The misfit is equal to zero if and only if the MODEL is exact and the smaller the misfit is (by definition) the more accurate the MODEL is. The considered MODEL class consists of all linear time-invariant systems of bounded complexity and the complexity is specified by the number of inputs and the smallest number of lags in a difference equation representation. We present a Matlab function for approximate identification based on misfit minimization.
