32feet.NET is a shared-source project to make personal area networking technologies such as Bluetooth, Infrared (IrDA) and more, easily accessible from .NET code. Supports desktop, mobile or embedded systems. 32feet.NET is free for commercial or non-commercial use. If you use the binaries you can just use the library as-is, if you make modifications to the source you need to include the 32feet.NET License.txt document and ensure the file headers are not modified/removed. The project Currently consists of the following libraries:- Bluetooth IrDA Object Exchange Bluetooth support requires a device with either the Microsoft, Widcomm, BlueSoleil, or Stonestreet One Bluetopia Bluetooth stack. Requires .NET Compact Framework v3.5 or above and Windows CE.NET 4.2 or above, or .NET Framework v3.5 for desktop Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8. A subset of functionality is available for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Embedded Handheld 8 in the InTheHand.Phone.Bluetooth.dll library.

Introduction jSMPP is a java implementation (SMPP API) of the SMPP protocol (Currently supports SMPP v3.4). It provides interfaces to communicate with a Message Center or an ESME (External Short Message Entity) and is able to handle traffic of 3000-5000 messages per second. jSMPP is not a high-level library. People looking for a quick way to get started with SMPP may be better of using an abstraction layer such as the Apache Camel SMPP component: http://camel.apache.org/smpp.html Travis-CI status: History The project started on Google Code: http://code.google.com/p/jsmpp/ It was maintained by uudashr on Github until 2013. It is now a community project maintained at http://jsmpp.org Release procedure mvn deploy -DperformRelease=true -Durl=https://oss.sonatype.org/service/local/staging/deploy/maven2/ -DrepositoryId=sonatype-nexus-staging -Dgpg.passphrase=<yourpassphrase> log in here: https://oss.sonatype.org click the 'Staging Repositories' link select the repository and click close select the repository and click release License Copyright (C) 2007-2013, Nuruddin Ashr uudashr@gmail.com Copyright (C) 2012-2013, Denis Kostousov denis.kostousov@gmail.com Copyright (C) 2014, Daniel Pocock http://danielpocock.com Copyright (C) 2016, Pim Moerenhout pim.moerenhout@gmail.com This project is licensed under the Apache Software License 2.0.

The contemporary view of the Smart City is very much static and infrastructure- centric, focusing on installation and subsequent management of Edge devices and analytics of data provided by these devices. While this still allows a more efficient management of the city’s infrastructure, optimizations and savings in different do- mains, the existing architectures are Currently designed as single-purpose, vertically siloed solutions. This hinders active involvement of a variety of stakeholders (e.g., citizens and businesses) who naturally form part of the city’s ecosystem and have an inherent interest in jointly coordinating and influencing city-level activities.

At present, there is a strong worldwide push toward bringing fiber closer to indi- vidual homes and businesses. Fiber-to-the-Home/Business (FTTH/B) or close to it networks are poised to become the next major success story for optical fiber com- munications. In fact, FTTH connections are Currently experiencing double-digit or even higher growth rates, e.g., in the United States the annual growth rate was 112% between September 2006 and September 2007, and their presence can add value of U.S. $4,000–15,000 to the selling price of a home.

Currently, the information and communications technology (ICT) industry sector accounts for about 2–6% of the energy consumption worldwide, and a significant por- tion of this is contributed by the wireless and mobile communications industry. With the proliferation of wireless data applications, wireless technology continues to increase worldwide at an unprecedented growth rate. This has resulted in an increased number of installed base stations and higher demand on power grids and device power usage, causing an increased carbon footprint worldwide.

The first Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) networks were launched during 2002. By the end of 2005 there were 100 open WCDMA networks and a total of over 150 operators having frequency licenses for WCDMA operation. Currently, the WCDMA networks are deployedinUniversalMobileTelecommunicationsSystem(UMTS)bandaround2GHz in Europe and Asia including Japan and Korea. WCDMA in America is deployed in the existing 850 and 1900 spectrum allocations while the new 3G band at 1700/2100 is expected to be available in the near future. 3GPP has defined the WCDMA operation also for several additional bands, which are expected to be taken into use during the coming years.

Before delving into the details of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), relevant background material must be presented first. The purpose of this chapter is to provide the necessary building blocks for the development of OFDM principles. Included in this chapter are reviews of stochastic and random process, discrete-time signals and systems, and the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). Tooled with the necessary mathematical foundation, we proceed with an overview of digital communication systems and OFDM communication systems. We conclude the chapter with summaries of the OFDM wireless LAN standards Currently in existence and a high-level comparison of single carrier systems versus OFDM.

We are Currently witnessing an increase in telecommunications norms and standards given the recent advances in this domain. The increasing number of normalized standards paves the way for an increase in the range of offers and services available for each consumer. Moreover, the majority of available radio frequencies have already been allocated.

Power Electronics is one of modern and key technologies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering for green power, sustainable energy systems, and smart grids. Especially, the transformation of existing electric power systems into smart grids is Currently a global trend. The gradual increase of distributed generators in smart grids indicates a wide and important role for power electronic converters in the electric power system, also with the increased use of power electronics devices (nonlinear loads) and motor loadings, low cost, low-loss and high-performance shunt current quality compensators are highly demanded by power customers to solve current quality problems caused by those loadings.

There is an unprecedented enthusiasm for radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies today. RFID is based on the exchange of information carried by electromagnetic waves between a label, or tag, and a reader. This technology is Currently in full economic expansion, which has manifested itself in widely backed research activities, some of which will be examined in this book.
