To fully utilize the available spectrum for a wireless communication system it is feasible to adapt to different situations on the CHANNEL. In this paper a flexible OFDM transmitter is presented together with basic theory behind OFDM transmission. It is shown that high flexibility can be obtained with a reasonable amount Flexible baseband transmitter for OFDM of additional hardware. Part of the design, the FFT-processor, has already been fabricated and measurement results are presented.

This will sample all 8 A/D-CHANNELs. The result will be send out via UART1 and can be seen within any terminal-program (9600 Baud). With each pressed key the next CHANNEL will be converted. No interrupts are used.

This will sample all 8 A/D-CHANNELs by the continous mode. Each end of conversion will call an interrupt routine, where the AD-CHANNEL is put to Port4[2..0] and the upper nibble of the result is put to Port4[7..4]. Port 4 is connected to the user LEDs of the FlashCan100P Evaluation-Board

Abstract-The effect of the companding process on QAM signals has been under investigation for the past several years. The compander, included in the PCM telephone network to improve voice performance, has an unusual affect on digital QAM data signals which are transmitted over the same CHANNEL. The quantization noise, generated by the companding process which is multiplicative (and asymmetric), degrades the detectability performance of the outermost points of the QAM constellation more than that of the inner points. The combined effect of the companding noise and the inherent white gaussian noise of the system, leads us to a re-examination of signal constellation design. This a very simple baseband simulator for SC-FDMA system. This simulator is part of the upcoming book “Single Carrier FDMA: A New Air Interface for Long Term Evolution” (Wiley, Nov. 2008) which I co-authored with professor David J. Goodman at Polytechnic University. The purpose of this simulator is to give some concrete idea of how SC-FDMA system works. It does lack many realistic and sophisticated features such as CHANNEL coding, time-varying fading CHANNEL model, soft decision decoding, etc. Regardless, I am hoping that it will help you understand SC-FDMA which is a fairly new development in 3GPP LTE.
